Thomas Walter Marczynski was born on December 26, 1878 in Poland to Jozef Ludwig and Theresa Katherine (Bonczak) Marczynski. He and his older siblings--Gertrude (b. 1858), Mary (b. 1865), Franciszka (b. 1868) and Casimir (b. 1871)--left for the United States at the turn-of-the-century, and they all worked for the railroad in Dunkirk, New York.
